The following was written by Media Relations Intern, Erin Golden.
At first, 10 weeks at a new place sounds long and a little bit daunting, but I can’t believe it is already the end of my internship at MediaSource. I never thought I’d be sad to leave a place called “work,” but my summer spent here hasn’t felt like work at all. I’ve been listened to, included, and expected to participate just like everyone else. I never felt incompetent or lost, and always felt welcomed to ask questions. What I loved even more were the unique skills I gained learning to be not only a PR professional, but a brand journalist - and these are skills I know I will take with me after I graduate in May.
I’ll also be able to use what I’ve learned at MediaSource during my senior year at Ohio University where I’ll be the Account Executive for the Fluff Bakery account for ImPRessions (our student-run PR firm). I can’t wait to bring a different and unique perspective back to my client and also to my account associates. I’ll be (of course) taking more strategic communication classes and completing my senior capstone project. Working here all summer has me so excited for my last year of classes and to graduate and join the world of PR pros!
Spending 10 weeks experiencing how MediaSource works was insightful and rewarding, and I definitely enjoyed my summer spent in Columbus.
