The following blog is written by Conner Scott, Content Intern

I would first like to say that I am so grateful to the MediaSource team for granting me the opportunity to intern with them this Fall Semester. My name is Conner Scott and I will be graduating this coming May from Otterbein University with a degree in Journalism and Media Communication.

Ever since the first time I stepped through the doors of MediaSource, I knew there was something unique about them. Along with being named the best healthcare PR and marketing agency two years in a row, the team that greeted me and showed me around were all young, enthusiastic, professional, and treated each other like family. Needless to say, I was very impressed.

Coming from the small town of Bellefontaine, Ohio; an area of corn fields and combines, to the city of Columbus was quite the change of lifestyle for me. I didn’t know what to do with all the resources that were at my fingertips, or even just a few minutes drive down the road. However, it goes without saying that I fully intend to use the vast amount of resources and contacts readily available to me to help push myself further into the career of my choice.

If you had asked me when I was just coming out of high school what I wanted to be doing, I would’ve told you that I wanted to be a music teacher. In fact, that’s what I spent the first year and a half of my college career doing, studying music education. However, in my free time I was always found writing scripts, editing video, and pitching ideas to others. After some time, I decided to go with what I felt to be my true passion and switched to a degree in Journalism and Media Communication.

It was then that I really got involved on campus and in my new department. Along with taking extensive courses in video and editing, I also ventured and learned about radio, web, and print production. I also got involved in various extracurriculars, interning at the Marketing and Communications office on campus, and becoming a part of Greek Life, now being president of Sigma Delta Phi, a local chapter at Otterbein University. All of these have helped me grow as an individual and a leader, and have given me the tools and confidence I feel I need to push myself further and become successful after graduation.

After college I hope to go into the field of health care journalism and advertising, and I know without a doubt that the skills and experience I’ll gather while here at MediaSource will help jettison me towards that goal. I can’t wait to see what else lies in store for me here!
