My Internship with MediaSource was Nothing but Fate

Growing up in Ohio, I have always been surrounded by Ohio State everything. When I was admitted to the university, I knew that it was the place for me. The pressure was on to find my passion and what would be my motivation for the next four years. Fortunately, I had amazing mentors that all had one thing in common: public relations. 

I am living proof that trial and error is a wonderful thing. I initially declared the Public Affairs major, but I quickly discovered that this was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I am ardently driven by passion and doing what truly brings happiness. After exploring other options, I switched to Communications and I have never looked back. 

Entering my junior year of college, I had no idea what would be in store. When I wasn’t checking out the latest news or social media trends, cooking up delicious Pinterest recipes or jamming to vintage disco music, I was actively searched for internships and job opportunities that would give me amazing experience. When I saw that MediaSource was seeking a Media Relations intern, I immediately had pleasant flashbacks of my first interaction with the company. 

At a regional conference for PRSSA, I had the chance to hear many great speakers, but one stood out in particular– Lisa Arledge Powell, founder and president of MediaSource. Her presentation was the only one I remembered from that day, because she was so passionate and knowledgeable. My passion was healthcare PR, and the opportunity could not have been more perfect. 

I feel so incredibly fortunate that the wonderful MediaSource staff saw potential in me and selected me to be a Media Relations intern for Spring 2015. I know that the experience and knowledge in this internship is incomparable, and will propel me into the public relations career of my dreams. I have already learned so much, and I am ecstatic to see what MediaSource has in store for me in the future!
