I began my television news career as an intern at ABC6/FOX 28 in Columbus shadowing reporters, field producing and writing scripts. I fell in love with the process, the adrenaline rush of breaking news. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and Communications and was hired at ABC6/FOX28 as an assignment editor and producer where I produced the 6 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. newscasts.
I took a couple of years off to start a family and in 2003 I got a phone call from a friend asking if I could help fill a few hours on the assignment desk at WBNS 10TV over the holidays. I ended up staying for 10 years!
I found the breaking news, dispatched the crews, coordinated live national news events including Presidential visits to central Ohio and tornado coverage throughout the state.
I covered big breaking news stories from the assignment desk, including a crime that gripped central Ohio when investigators raced against the clock to find a Knox County teenager held captive in 2010. Her mother, friend and 11 year old brother were murdered and found in a hollowed out tree in Knox County. Some days working in a newsroom were much tougher than others.
While at 10TV, I won an Edward R. Murrow Award for Breaking News Coverage for 10TV's live coverage of a child being rescued out of an Amber Alert. These stories with a great ending kept me going as a journalist.
I'm excited to bring my expertise in the news business and passion to help others to the talented MediaSource team!
