In our last intern welcome blog of the semester, the brand journalism team is thrilled to introduce Bria Mosley! Bria, a sophomore at The Ohio State University, joins our team this spring as Media Measurement & Analysis Intern. Get to know more about her in her first MediaSource blog below!

To be completely honest, I’m not entirely sure how I ended up at The Ohio State University. Searching for a university that would offer me endless opportunities and confident in my decision of University of Kentucky, I took a tour at OSU just to see what the hype was about. Almost immediately, I fell in love and decided on my new home as a Fisher College of Business marketing student. 

After living in Central Illinois for the majority of my childhood, I knew I needed to break out of my comfort zone and experience something a little different. While the Midwest cold makes me wish I had pursued this desire a little more toward the South, I am so blessed and fortunate to be part of the wonderful community that is Ohio State. 

On campus, I keep busy serving on the executive board of Council of Black Students in Administration, an organization geared toward the professional development of African American students. This program has offered me amazing experiences such as the opportunity to network and volunteer at the National Black MBA Conference in Orlando, Florida and amazing contacts that are there whenever I have questions. I am also a mentor for the nationwide program College Mentors for Kids. I truly look forward to meeting with my Little Buddy, Assriel, and seeing her smiling face every week. 

Diversity and culture is something I am very passionate about. This past winter, I did a Buck-I-Serv trip in Atlanta, Georgia where we helped the non-profit organization, Partners for Care. PfC benefits the lives of people in Kenya by giving them means of transporting clean, safe water many miles and starting second chance schools so men and women can gain the necessary skills to maintain jobs. This experience was very rewarding and I hope to do another Buck-I-Serv trip at a site in South Africa next summer. I am also looking forward to my Spring Break study abroad trip in Brazil where we will learn about access to higher education in relation to race and socioeconomic status. This will be my first time out of the continent I am extremely excited. 

As someone who loves the creativity that comes with marketing and the critical thinking that comes with analysis, the Media Measurement & Analysis internship is the perfect fit for me. I am thrilled to be working with MediaSource this semester. The idea of brand journalism and letting the stories write themselves is very intriguing to me. I look forward to joining the MediaSource team, getting to work on projects and learning more about their methods and brand journalism along the way.
