Media Relations Specialist

Aggressively garner media buzz for MediaSource clients across a variety of types of news media outlets including online, TV, print, radio, etc.
Proactively pitch story topics to journalists on a daily basis. (We do very little reactive/incoming media relations - almost every pitch is proactively seeking coverage.)
Identify, create and sustain relationships with an ever growing and changing list of journalists on a daily basis at top media outlets. (We do a limited amount of media coordination in Columbus. Rather we are focused on developing contacts in major markets around the country.)
Identify and create story angles and strategies to meet client goals
Develop media relations strategies that create buzz
Monitor the news and health industry developments to strategically identify opportunities on behalf of our clients
- 4-year degree
- At least three years of media relations experience with proven media placements
- Good verbal communications skills with no fear or hesitation of talking to journalists on a daily basis
- Excellent PR and news-style writing skills with competency in AP Style
- Ability to work both alone and as part of a larger team
- Experience in developing strategies and ideas executing media relations tactics
- Project management and client management skills
- PR agency experience focused in media relations
- Demonstration of national news media placements
- Health/medical media relations experience
